David Danel (1974) received his musical education at the at Janáček Conservatory Ostrava the University of Ostrava (Master degree in Music Performance). Besides numerous solo appearances with orchestras in the Czech Republic and abroad (Janáček Philharmonic Ostrava, Capella Istropolitana, Slovak Chamber Orchestra, Spanish solo tour with Brno Chamber Soloists a.o.), he has performed at the Dartington Summer Festival 2004 (GBR), Bavarian Radio "Counterpoint Programme“ 2004 (GER), St. Wenceslas Music Festival 2005, 2006 (CZE), Numus Concert Series, Music Gallery Toronto 2006 (CAN), Evenings of New Music, Bratislava (2010), Alles im Fluss 2010 (Passau, GER), Slovak Philharmonic Concert Series 2006 and 2013, Central Europe Culture Platform 2013 (Tirana, ALB) and the Afyon Classical Music Festival 2007-13 (TUR).

Mr. Danel has also appeared as Guest Concertmaster with the Bilbao Philharmonia (2001 and 2002, ESP), Berg Chamber Orchestra (Prague), Oratorio Project (Cluj, ROU) and as conductor and leader of the Crescendo Summer Institute Orchestra (HUN). He has made many recordings of solo and chamber music for the Czech Radio, and his CD of chamber music by Bohuslav Martinů can be found on the Slovart Records label. His chamber music partners include Rosemary Hardy (GBR), Martin Helmchen (GER), Klára Körmendi (HUN), Daniel Goiti (ROU), Ivan Siller (SVK), Reto Reichenbach (SUI), Jiří Hanousek (CZE) and many others.

Mr. Danel has won prizes in several national and international competitions including the L. van Beethoven International Violin Competition and the L. Janáček Violin Competition. Between 2000 and 2011 he was a member of the Prague Philharmonia (Assistant Principal 2nd violin) and Guest Lecturer at the University of Ostrava. Since 2011 he has been teaching violin at the Jaroslav Jezek Conservatory of Music, Prague. His strong interest in contemporary music is reflected in his performances with the new music group MoEns (Mondschein), the international Ostravska Banda, the Prague-based Early Reflections and in his artistic direction of the Prague Modern ensemble (recently awarded Coup de Coeur Award by the French Academy of Charles Cros for the recording Dai Fujikura´s music). He is also a founder of the string quartet “fama Q” that has appeared at prestigious festivals such as Contempuls Prague, Prague Spring Festival, MusicOlomouc, Exposition of New Music Brno, Třídení Prague, Space Festival Bratislava (SVK), NewMusicMarathon Prague, Der Film (Prague), You:rope Together (Essen, GER), Evenings of New Music (Bratislava), Magister Ludi Moscow. With his ensemble, he has toured Romania, Slovakia, USA (Phillips Collection, Washington D.C.) and Japan.

David Danel enjoys looking for ways to bring the violin into new mediums, and occasionally cooperates with dancers, choreographers, visual artists and narrators. He has created multi-art-discipline projects such as “Bach – a story of creation and of fall” for dancer, violinist, narrator and light designer; his experimental “D6” involves a jazz guitarist and an avant-garde percussionist. His solo project “NachBach” combines music of J.S. Bach and works of important composers of the 20th century. He frequently premieres new works by Czech composers.
