Johanna Schwarzl started her musical studies at the Music University in Stuttgart in the class of Professor Davide Formisano at the age of 14. She finished her Bachelor degree in his class with the best possible marks. In the context of an exchange-program Johanna also had the possibility to study abroad. First with Professor Felix Renggli in Basel and later with Professor Sophie Cherrier at the CNSMDP, Paris. She finished her Master with distinction in Basel and is currently studying Music Mediation in Bern in the class of Christian Studler.

Johanna is laureate of both national and international competitions such as the „Severino Gazzelloni International Flute Competition“, the „International Haifa Flute Competition”, the “Sparda Classic Award”, the “Valiant Kulturwettbewerb” as well as the “Swiss Chamber Music Comeptition”. She was a member of the “Junge Deutsche Philharmonie” and has also had the chance to perform as a soloist with orchestras in Germany, Barcelona and Israel. 

She is the solo flutist of the Symphony Orchestra of Bern and teaches as an assistant flute teacher at the Music University in Bern. 

Currently she is establishing her own “out of the box” concert series in Switzerland with her husband Dan Marginean (piano).
